This is a picture from the cockpit of our
boat while sailing in light air on Lake Norman near Charlotte, NC.
The boat is a 1984 Catalina 22. It is termed a
"pocket cruiser" as it has a galley which includes a sink,
icebox and fresh water storage. It also has a "pop top"
which allows for 6 foot headroom when moored. We recently decided
on a name "Sea Sharp Minor" and have designed a logo but have
yet to add it to the boat.
The boat is quite
comfortable for one couple or up to four very close friends. The boat has a retractable keel which draws about 5 1/2 feet when
down but less than two feet when retracted. This makes the boat
perfect for exploring inland lakes and protected coastal areas.
We have now moved our boat to the Lake Norman Sailing Club on the
Southwest side of the lake. The members are a friendly and laid
back bunch of folks who just enjoy sailing. They sponsor informal
races and have many cook out events during the year. With the
recent improvements to I-485 and Hiway 16, we are less than an hour from
the boat.
