Congratulations to Skip Black, who has just signed a three-year contract to become a staff songwriter for SongJourney Music Publishing, Nashville, Tennessee. As you know, Skip won first place in the NSAI Charlotte open mic contest in 2003, and as part of the prize, he traveled to Nashville and met with several publishers. Through those meetings and relationships he formed in Nashville, and through his own hard work and perseverance, Skip has worked himself into the Nashville community. He has been traveling to Nashville regularly to co-write and to pitch his songs, and has established himself in Nashville as a quality songwriter.

Alan Barrington (http://www.alanbarrington.com ) was a national finalist in the MOVA ARTS Festival at Lake Guntersville Alabama. He made the cut in three different music genres, Folk for "Looking For a Novel" & "No Father No Mother", acoustic alternative for "Money Game", and blues for "Anastasia You’re Going To Ruin My Reputation".  http://mova.mountainvalleyartscouncil.org.
The latter song as well as another of Alan's, " Daddy's Back in Carolina" were chosen to be included on a CD of hot Charlotte performers, called "Uptown Sound".
Alan opened for the Charlotte Symphony on July 2nd.
On Aug 8th Alan had a live radio interview on WSGE 91.7 FM
Alan has also been getting radio air play on RADIO HOLSTEBRO a Danish radio station. Also, “Good Wood” and “Daddy’s Back In Carolina” have been getting radio air play on Public Radio 90.7, on the Blues Central show as well as WSGE 91.7. Y'all check out Allan's really cool latest CD "Good Wood".

Brian Hartzog's song "Motha Funky" has been referred by Song U to Chuck Brown, a DC-based R&B artist who invented go-go music. Chuck's representative liked Brian's lyrics and said he wanted Chuck to check them out. Brian's song "Alright to Drive" was forwarded as well.

Brian just got word that a radio station in Japan (Yellow Beat) http://www.yellowbeat.net has added several of his songs to their playlist. They are going to do a feature show about Brian in August. Way to go Hartzog-san!

"Christmas in July" was selected by Music75.com as one of the songs to be featured on a CD that is being distributed with an upcoming edition of Internet Pratique magazine. This is a French magazine that goes out to 70,000 subscribers. For details, go to: http://www.music75.com/store_CD/IP_Album.asp
